    About the role

Constructor.io powers product search and discovery for some of the largest retailers in the world, serving billions of requests every week. The company differentiates itself by focusing on metrics over features and reinventing search as a machine learning challenge to improve revenue. Constructor is approximately doubling year over year and has customers across every eCommerce vertical.

As a Sales Engineer, you will lead the technical components of the sales process, partnering with Account Executives to design integration approaches and evaluate technical fit. This role combines technical architecture design, consultative discovery, and cross-functional collaboration, acting as a bridge between customer engineering teams and internal Product and Engineering teams.

    What you'll do

    • Lead technical discovery and solution design for prospective customers.
    • Design and document integration architectures including APIs, ecommerce platforms, PIM, CMS, and data pipelines.
    • Develop and support tailored Proof Schedules and lightweight POCs.
    • Deliver technical presentations and integration blueprints to business and technical stakeholders.
    • Troubleshoot and triage APIs, SDKs, and integration patterns.
    • Build demo prototypes and tooling using coding agents to automate workflows.
    • Partner with Product and Engineering to surface customer feedback for the product roadmap.
    • Support RFP and RFI responses and enablement training for sales teams.
    • Represent Constructor in prospect meetings, partner engagements, and industry events.

    What they're looking for

    • 3+ years of experience in technical Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales Architect roles.
    • Deep hands-on experience with API-first platforms, REST APIs, JSON data structures, webhooks, and SDKs.
    • Working knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages to debug code and build prototypes.
    • Experience designing and running custom demos or pilots with business-aligned success criteria.
    • Hands-on experience with coding agents to automate workflows and execute at scale.
    • Track record of producing clear technical documentation for developers and C-suite executives.
    • Ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences and identify key decision-makers.

    Nice to have

    • Professional proficiency in Italian, French, Spanish, or German.
    • Experience in enterprise ecommerce or retail technology environments.
    • Familiarity with major ecommerce platforms and headless vs. templated frontends.
    • Understanding of data mapping from PIM, ERP, or legacy search indexes.
    • Working knowledge of search and discovery concepts.
    • Experience supporting security reviews like GDPR, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
    • Ability to build business value models connecting search to revenue or conversion.

The hot takeJeff's read on Constructor

Constructor's careers page is 90% employee-first in its verbiage, with a few tiny blurbs at the bottom about the company's core values. They are PITCHING prospects. Bravo. And guess what? They are going to get the best talent that works the hardest and doesn't leave the company. With a 94% employee retention rate and 4.7 stars on Glassdoor, I completely buy it. Note to companies out there still promoting themselves as company/vision-first, take note. This is how you build a strong team and generate revenue.
