About the role
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services.
Kraken is hiring a Product Manager with deep UX and interaction design expertise to build social experiences around investing and trading. The role includes designing flows, building interactive prototypes, and owning product decisions.
What you'll do
- Design complete social journeys: discovering a person, following them, sharing an idea or trade, receiving a response, and returning.
- Shape navigation, information hierarchy, copy, defaults, gestures, and feedback. Specify empty states, failed posts, slow loading, and changes of mind.
- Turn ideas into interactive prototypes, explore alternatives, test uncertain parts, and give engineering clear flows, states, and acceptance criteria.
- Use psychology to improve participation, translating motivations into decisions about audience visibility, prompts, reputation, feedback, and the effort required to contribute.
- Run usability sessions and combine observations with funnel data to identify where people misunderstand the product, lose confidence, or abandon an action.
- Design for first use and repeated use. Make the experience useful before someone has connections, keep sharing lightweight during trading, and provide clear control over what becomes public.
- Connect design decisions to measurable outcomes. Track task completion, abandonment, first follows, first contributions, responses, and retention. Work with data science to evaluate experiments and effects on contributors and their audiences.
- Take the experience through launch: choose a focused initial scope, resolve engineering trade-offs, review implementation against the intended design, and use post-launch evidence to decide what to improve.
What they're looking for
- Experience designing and shipping consumer social experiences, with a portfolio showing contributions to feeds, profiles, sharing, messaging, discovery, or communities and how the experience changed after launch.
- Strong interaction design craft, including explaining flow structure, what users notice first, what they need to understand, and which decisions or steps can be removed.
- Ability to build realistic interactive prototypes using Figma, code, AI tools, or a combination, including transitions, empty states, and failure states.
- Understanding of behavior through evidence, with examples of user research challenging assumptions and changing a design.
- Ability to own product outcomes: prioritize a problem, define success, interpret funnel and cohort data, and assess whether an experiment produced a meaningful improvement.
- Understanding of social finance, including how credibility, incentives, reputation, and visibility of financial activity affect trust and sharing.
