About the role
Build Alpaca's internal infrastructure and developer platform as a product. You own the product definition and platform maturity strategy, the intake, the backlog, and the multi-quarter roadmap for Platform & Infrastructure, and you put the rails in place so DevOps, Platform, and Infrastructure teams, and the customers know what to prioritize next.
Alpaca is building infrastructure for programmable finance at global scale: new countries, global markets, products that must stay centralized, and products that must be deployable in any region. This seat exists so that work has a product owner — platform maturity, CI/CD, cost efficiency and attribution, and the infrastructure dependencies that product engineering keeps discovering too late.
What you'll do
- Own infrastructure as a product and define a platform maturity model for self-serve infrastructure.
- Build the rails for monthly delivery and manage the central backlog and intake.
- Drive platform maturity to achieve 24/7 deployability across open and closed markets globally.
- Make cost a first-class product surface by working with engineering and Finance on attribution and efficiency.
- Raise CI/CD and developer-platform adoption by partnering with DevOps and Platform teams.
- Make infrastructure portable for global scale to support expansion into new markets.
What they're looking for
- 7+ years as a TPM or technical product manager owning infrastructure, platform, or developer experience.
- Experience owning a multi-team backlog, intake, and roadmap.
- Technical fluency in compute infra, CI/CD, data stores, networking, and cost drivers.
- Proven ability to influence platform adoption without a direct reporting line.
- Ability to write and operate with crisp scope.
- Experience in market-hours-sensitive or regulated production environments.
- Use of AI and automation to remove program toil.
Nice to have
- Experience standing up a platform-maturity model or internal developer platform.
- History of reducing maintenance windows or change-freeze culture.
- Experience with multi-region or multi-entity infrastructure packaging.
- Background in capital markets, brokerage, or FinTech infrastructure.

The hot takeJeff's read on Alpaca
I like their clear views on the value of remote work, check out this quote from their careers page:
> "Our teams are not just global, we're also 100% remote and have team members in almost every time zone and continent (except Antarctica). By joining Alpaca you'll be part of a multicultural, international organization."
I also like that their Glassdoor scores are going up (now 3.7/5), and they have some solid testimonials. I'm a LITTLE wary of this statement that gives me a bit of a "hustle culture" vibe:
> "We're keen on that last 10% of effort and believe that the details do matter. If this sounds like you, then you're in the right place."
